Spring Style Me Challenge – The Finale!

The Spring Style Me Challenge at Get Your Pretty On officially ended on Sunday. Twenty one days of being styled by Alison gave me so many ideas for outfits and putting patterns and colors together. I certainly know I have a few go to outfits that are easy and effortless to put together. That is so exciting to me as I continue on my wardrobe journey.

Although I will take with me all that learned about style, the greater gift for me is relationships. I have been extremely blessed by the encouragement and love that the women showed each other and me. One of the ladies wrote this blog post {here} and I don’t think I could say it any better. Seriously, PLEASE read it!! I think this is what I love about blogging…it’s not the fashion or the style or the great tips or the giveaways, although I LOVE all of those things. What really matters to me is relationships!

I was blessed to have dinner last Friday with some of the ladies who live in N. Texas that participated in the challenge. Instant friendship ensued! Relationships with ladies is what happened through this challenge. Lovely ladies that encouraged one another simply because their desire is to bless and not curse. They desire to build up one another and not tear down. Below is the picture we took after dinner. These are just a few of the 400+ ladies who were a part of the Spring Challenge. We had a great time! You might want to join the summer challenge which begins June 15th. Check it out here.

For the final days of the challenge, I have to admit that I didn’t get very many pictures. My hubby was out on military duty and my selfies are a work in progress {they still need a lot of work}. But before he left, he took this one. I must say I have fallen deeply in love with white jeans. Who knew that love affair would bloom and blossom into a major {and I dare say} ongoing long-term relationship. My heart has been captivated and stolen by those white jeans…Until this challenge they had found their place in the closet neatly folded on the shelf and yet oh so neglected. But their day has come and they will be center stage quite often I do believe!

Summer Dresses Link-up

Beautiful blue skies, no clouds and warm {hot} temperatures. This has been the forecast in Texas lately. I, for one, am loving it! I’ll admit that when it’s over 100 for, well, what feels like 100 days I do grow a little tired of the heat. But for 2014 I’m not there yet. Right here, right now I’m totally digging the weather. I am much more upbeat and productive when the sun is out and the skies are blue! We are on the brink of summer fashion and for me living in Texas, summer = dresses! They are just so comfortable and much cooler when the temps are soaring. Today, I’m sharing a couple of my favorites. The green dress is new {free reward $$’s at Old Navy – buying gas on the credit card = points = reward $$} So I found this little number and I thought it would be a great addition to build on for spring and summer in the dresses department. I’ve styled it a couple of different ways. I’m thinking this little number has so many options and its workable year round with sweaters, boots, tights, etc. BUT that day is not today! {Thankful}

This little blue number is one I picked up last summer at Target. It is absolutely the coolest dress on a super hot Texas day. It was a little windy when we shot these pictures so you can see how it flows. Yes, it’s a keeper…

Summer’s coming so get your dresses ready, ladies!

Spring Layering + a Co-Host

It’s Remix.Rewear.Restyle on Monday, ladies! The challenge is layers, spring edition. Be sure to check out Greater than Rubies for the link-up. The spring transition in Texas can be mind-boggling to me at times. Last week there were a few mornings when I needed a light jacket or a cardigan but the temps zoomed up in the afternoon. Perfect time to put on a tank top and shorts before heading to the gym. I have typically struggled with the spring transition for years but this year has been better. As I am building a more remixable wardrobe and developing a capsule for seasons, I have found it easier to put looks together for this season. What I’m finding is that I have what I need to remix and don’t need to shop for a new look every weekend.

Since my hubby was gone this weekend on military duty, I was minus a photographer. That put me in a little dilemma for photos. Not to worry because I have a few outfits that have been great for transitioning this spring and also some of my favorite looks and/or pieces.

A maxi look which can be worn with or without the sweater.

Skinnies with stripes and leopard print are always a great look. When the temps to go, just remove the cardigan.

Jeans with yellow tank and a grey cardigan. This is a favorite color combo. Again, just remove the sweater as the temps go up during the day.

Spring Style Me Challenge ~ Day 10-16 + a Link-up

The Spring Style Me Challenge continues at Get Your Pretty On. As the challenge continues, I am again realizing how I can continue to purge down my wardrobe. I stopped at a local clothing resale store this past weekend and parted with a few items that I had been hanging on to. They rejected some but not all of them as they did last time I was there. I left with a little less clothing and little more money in my pocket. As I left, I felt like it was a win! As I thought more about it, I decided I would part with a few more like items on Sunday. Guess what? They bought those also. Saturday + Sunday = a great win for my purging and developing a better more remixable wardrobe. Which leads me to the challenge – it has been a great opportunity to work on remixing.

This week I’m linking up again with my fellow challenge ladies. I’m posting Days 10-16. Below is what was suggested to wear and what I wore. Some days I drifted in the unsafe waters of my own decisions and though it sounded good in my head, it didn’t always translate on my body the way I envisioned. But, lessons are being learned and I am enjoying understanding my style and mixing pieces better with each outfit.

Spring Transitions & Life Transitions + A Giveaway

Remix.Rewear.Restyle. My Monday tradition linking up at Greater than Rubies is here. This week the remix is spring transition pieces. I was a little stumped what I should put together for this one. But as I put together some simple to wear to church I realized that was it. It is simple and yet a little springy, transitional and even versatile. Spring transition w/out scarf

This is actually what I wore to church. I think it works for a spring day prior to really warm temps in Texas. I am beginning to understand the importance of statement jewelry and even animal print flats to add a little pop to an outfit. When I got home I did a little swapping out and thought the next outfit was a good option for spring transition as well. And that basic white tank, yeah, I rescued that from the purge pile. What was I thinking? Who gives away a perfectly good white tank? Apparently, this girl was going to before I came to my senses. My goodness, I wonder sometimes what I’m thinking…

By the way, this is the same sweater that I wore the last week with the brown dress. Two options {plus how many unknown are still lurking out there in my closet} already with that little coral number.

Although this remix is focused on transition pieces, I have to confess that my husband and I are in the middle of life transitions as well. Today was the first Sunday of a new church plant in our city. North Point Church will be our new church home. You can read about it here. We are excited to see how the Lord will grow and shape us and the others who have committed to join this church plant. Previously, we assisted for a short time with another church plant in our city. Christ Community Church’s information can be found here. We have blessed for years through Denton Bible Church and look forward to our teaching and training being put to use along new avenues. So you see, our spring is definitely a time of transitions. Good and exciting transitions that have us embracing just how blessed we are and have been by our Lord.
