Friday Lovelies + Another Co-Hosting

Friday! This week has been incredibly busy for me and so I’m very thankful I can see the glimpse of the weekend in sight. I’m excited to be co-hosting again. This time it’s with Renae at Simple Sequins. Go check out her blog – it’s fantastic. I hope you’ll follow her! Maybe you want to co-host with her {highly recommend it ~ she’s great to work with}.

Typically, I try to post my favorites for the week on Friday. My goal is to have a Top 5 but this week I’m going to mix all five together and share about one main favorite and the five reasons it’s just tops for me this week.

Do you know where I’m going with this? It’s the Spring Style Me Challenge at Get Your Pretty On…of course! Here’s why, friends. (1) Community~it’s been a lovely experience meeting ladies from all over the US & Canada working through how to style their clothing. Sweetness + encouragement = being blessed. And what I mean by that is the ladies genuinely desire good for each other. (2) Challenge~I have been challenged to mix my clothes and wear things differently. I love that in the end that causes me to be a better steward of the resources I have. (3) Choices~someone else is making the choice of what I’m wearing each day. I have found some freedom in that concept. It does make it easier to get dressed for the work day in the morning rush. (4) Conversations~our Facebook group is quite active with conversations about what each is wearing. You can even get a heads up for sales events, what the best tank or tee or shoe out there in the marketplace or internet. (5) Connections~for me, I feel like I am connecting with people that I would love to have as friends {you know real friends that you drink coffee with at Starbucks}. What’s exciting is some of us who live close to one another are actually going to meet up for dinner one evening next week. That is completely awesome!

Well, there’s my top five for the Spring Style Me Challenge. How about joining in for the Summer Style Me Challenge? Here’s the details.

Here’s my two favorite looks from the challenge so far. I love these and will wear them often in the future. This challenge pushed me to try these looks and I’m oh so glad I did!

Also linking up today at Style Elixir.

Friday Lovlies + Co-Hosting with Friday’s Fab Favorites

Surprise! The Co-hosting day is here! Scroll to the end of the post to link-up or go here. I’m so excited because this is the first time that I have had the opportunity to participate in a co-host on my blog. Grateful to Lauren at Style Elixir for this opportunity. And yes, it’s still Friday so I’m going to post my favorites this week. It’s been a little crazy hectic but in a good way. I started the Spring Style Me Challenge this week. It was put together by Alison at Get Your Pretty On. If you didn’t participate don’t fret because I think there is one coming up for summer and I would highly recommend it to you!

So here’s my top five!

1.) The challenge of course! Through Alison’s coaching I have been encouraged to wear a few things differently. Here’s what I wore this week as renditions of the outfit challenges. Here’s what I wore.

2.) Over at Greater than Rubies, Caitlin posted this jewel about the capsule wardrobe. Yes, I’m still seeking to purge but I have found myself in a little rut. I’m struggling with what I should keep and what I should part with at this point. I’m having a little fear of letting things go, only to realize I made a mistake. Did I mention that I’m still a little bit of a perfectionist? Probably not! Now you know…

3.) Here’s another great link! Are you a shoe-a-holic? Are you female? If you answered YES & YES you probably would appreciate this post from Willfully Elegant. Shoes & shoes, gotta have ’em ladies. Anyway, it’s a great read with awesome pics of the top 10 must haves. I also loved the post Mustard the Courage.

4.) Last week I posted about my friends in my hometown and their new grandson. If you missed it, you can read it here. Little Liam was about to get released but…Here’s what his mom said today.

Well, we are here for another 7 days. Mitch and I were in the middle of getting everything done for discharge for Liam. We didn’t tell anybody we were coming home today so we could surprise everyone.. Unfortunately, Liam had a seizure in the middle of it all. Although, we are very, very THANKFUL it happened here and not at home.. It’s very frustrating, but we have a great team here so we know we see Forest City in the future soon and Iowa City behind us. ~ As you can see, they are still in need of your prayers!

5.) Yes, I do love clothes + fashion + make-up & all that jazz, but that is not my life. Those are simply things I enjoy while I’m here on this planet. What truly matters to me is more on the relational level. People matter! My faith matters! My family, my friends, my faith all revolve around relationships. As today is Good Friday, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the importance of this day. It’s not #5 because it is the least in my eyes but rather because Good Friday is a day in which Jesus Christ made himself the least in order to become great. It’s easy to overlook the least. As I watched {yet again} the movie The Help this week, I was reminded of the beauty of the least. Minnie & Abilene were the some of the least yet their strong relationships and their courage made them strong. Those beautiful ladies “the help” were overlooked and mistreated but their courage made them great. Courage, breathe it, soak it in, live it. It takes courage to really live.

Lovlies #4

This week has been so rushed and out of the ordinary for me. We have been dealing with insurance companies reps and a roofing company as we recover from the huge storm that blew through out town last week. A new roof indeed is in store. When will that happen? Not quickly!
Along with that issue, the time has come for parents to go back to Iowa for a while. They were here with us in Texas for the winter. Now that spring has arrived they are headed back north this weekend. So things change but time marches on…it stops for nothing or no one.
I have tried to be on top of things this week and have my favorite lovelies ready. This week I’m going to share a post that I wrote for my Facebook. It is my #1. I hope it will be yours as well. Read on and you’ll understand.
1.) When I was growing up in that small town in Iowa, I had a couple of great friends. Although I rarely have the opportunity to see them now, they are still near and dear to my heart. Jody, Kathy “Kat” and I have had some great times! When we were all grown up and married, we each had a baby about the same time. I had a girl {Lindsay}, Kat had a girl {Katy} and Jody had a boy {Mitch}. I moved off to Texas but Jody and Kat and their families stayed in that sweet little town. Well, Mitch and Katy fell in love and got married. And you know what happens next, right? The baby carriage. It did happen in 2014. A few short weeks ago actually. But life hit hard. Little baby Liam has yet to take one breath outside of his hospital bed. Monday he endured no less than 13 seizures. I’m writing this post in the hopes that if you should read it, you would pray. The Lord is close to the broken-hearted. He hears the prayers of his saints. Liam, Katy, Mitch and the extended family need your prayers, please. Thank you!

A few little lovelies for the week

There were a few things that grabbed my attention this week in the blogging world that I am excited to share with you. I do have a top five this week.

1.) Monday was Remix Rewear & Restyle at Greater than Rubies. This week the theme was dresses. I really do love dresses but I typically don’t wear them to work except when the summer days in Texas are unbearable for pants. The link up was a great opportunity to see so many dress creations. You can see everyone’s beauties here.

2.) Monday also brought a great little post at Fair Trade Fashionistas. Daring to Believe is about how a shirt can make a difference in the life of people in India. The shirts look legit and I’m going to have to pick one up at least for my hubby.

3.) Tuesday arrived with the 7×7 Remix with Ma Novelle Mode and Walking in Grace and Beauty. April 1 was the day to get your pieces picked and get ready to link up on April 2nd. The link is still live if you’re interested.

4.) On Wednesday, over at Greater than Rubies, Caitlin wrote a great post titled, How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe: The Master Plan. This was such a great read and gave me more direction in developing my own capsule. In this area, I am really struggling but the goal is to keep going and finish well. I still want to narrow down my clothing and continue to purge this year. It is definitely a work in progress. I am grateful for those who have gone before me in this endeavor.

5.) Also on Wednesday, I found this recipe for Mexican Mac-n-Cheese at Gimme Some Oven. I haven’t tried it yet, but I plan to in the near future. Doesn’t it just look so yummy?

That’s a wrap on my top five for this week. But I do have a little BONUS. I will be co-hosting a couple of link-ups later on in the month. If you want to mark your calendars, the link-ups will be Friday, April 18 and Friday, April 25. More details to come…hope you link up!

I wrote this post before Thursday evening when the North Texas area was repeatedly hit with severe weather. Hail, tornadoes, rain, wind that went through the area multiple times. Thankfully, we are safe! As the sirens went off this evening, I sat holding my cat and praying for the Lord’s protection of my beloved little city and its residents. My hubby was outside actually watching the tornado that literally passed over our heads. The hail pounded the roof of our home but we were and are safe. Thankful, grateful, blessed and speechless!

A Few Lovelies – Friday, March 28

This week I feel like I have been behind the eight ball.ALL.WEEK.LONG! Therefore my favorite five is going to be my favorite THREE. 🙂

Here goes!

1.) As I’m working on developing a capsule wardrobe, I read this wonderful post by Caitlin at Greater than Rubies. You can read it here and I highly recommend it! Very helpful!

2.) Over at Undergraduate Style, Alex had a link up on Tuesday with the Pantone Spring 2014 colors. It was a great link up. It looked like we all shopped our closets and found some of those beautiful colors. Check it out here – Color Me TUESDAY.

3.) Over at Get Your Pretty One, Alison announced a Style Me Challenge – Spring 2014. You can check it out here. It does have a cost of $10.00 but I thought it would be fun. She gives us a shopping list and outfit challenges. The items to wear will be distributed on April 4th and the challenge begins April 14th. I won’t be participating in the shopping part {unless it’s my closet} but I think it will be a fun little challenge.

4.) Here’s something else. A 7×7 Remix with Ma Nouvelle Mode and Walking in Grace and Beauty. It starts April 1st if you are interested. Click on Ma Nouvelle Mode for the deets.

There it is! Top 3+1 {because at the last-minute I remembered one more}.
